Stepney FC was established in 1993 for the purpose of engaging young people who are disaffected in society into main stream provisions through the medium of sports. Over the past thirteen years it has grown into a borough wide initiative that brings young people from all backgrounds and ability together, using sports as a vehicle. The aim of the organisation is to use sport to reduce anti social behaviour, crime and drug use among 12-25 years old within our local neighbourhood. It also aims to promote talented players and introduce them to professional football clubs.

Stepney FC have been very successful in the local football scene and have won various leagues and cups. The team has won the Inner London Football Premier League (ILFL) 2003 & 2006, the League Cup 2002, and the UK ASIAN Community Cup 2003. This tournament invited top 16 Asian teams from around the country; with teams from Scotland and the Midlands taking part. The final was held at Stamford Bridge with many top celebrities present at the match. The match was shown live on Chelsea TV and featured in Sky sports and many evening news programmes. Mr Ken Bates, former Chairman of CHELSEA F.C, presented the Cup. The team has also won the Bangladesh Football Association League 2002, 2004 & 2005, Tower Hamlets Lord Mayor's Cup, Asian Football League championship, Channel S Challenge Cup 2005 and Safer Neighbourhood Cup 2006 and many more cups.
